The Fifth Annual International ColoradOS/2 Software Developers Conference, the only OS/2-only, programmers-only conference in the world, was held the week of October 13 through 18, 1996, at Keystone Resort in Keystone, Colorado.
We had another super conference - it was great to see our old friends and to meet the many people new to ColoradOS/2 this year! Thank you all for coming and sharing your ideas, knowledge, and enthusiasm with the ever-growing ColoradOS/2 family.
By now everyone who attended ColoradOS/2 1996 should have received their
1996 ColoradOS/2 Proceedings CD-ROM. We mailed
them on Thursday, December 5, and even allowing for the crush of holiday
mail, they should all have been delivered. If you have not yet received your
1996 ColoradOS/2 CD-ROM, please contact us. Full contact information is on
our Registration Information page here.
We have a limited number of additional copies of these CD-ROMs for sale. If you are interested in buying one, please see the ordering instructions.
The final version of
Netscape
Navigator 2.02 for OS/2 Warp
is now available for downloading! It runs on OS/2 Warp Connect
Version 3 and on OS/2 Warp Version 4 (Merlin).
If you are not using a Web Browser that supports HTML 3.0, you should
download
IBM Web Explorer v1.1g for OS/2 Warp.
Much of the information on our
Web site is in the form of HTML tables, such as the table of topics, the
daily schedules organized by time or by speaker, etc. We have recently
learned that
attempts to print these HTML tables result in a crash of the Web Explorer
versions 1.1d, 1.1e and 1.1f, and often result in incorrect output when using
earlier versions of Web Explorer. To the best of
our knowledge, the problem is not in the tables themselves, and therefore
we cannot do anything to fix it. If anyone has a solution that
will help us resolve this problem, please email your suggestions to
webmaster@colos2.com.
Here are detailed instructions for loading OS/2 Warp Version 3 onto an IBM ThinkPad via
PCMCIA SCSI CD-ROM.
PC Week Online
has a benchmark
of OS/2 Warp Server vs. Novell NetWare vs. Windows NT Server. OS/2 Warp Server, running
on a single CPU, outperformed Windows NT Server running on four CPUs by up to 26%, and
it also outperformed NetWare, which came in third.
As of September 27, 1996, Adobe has just made their official Beta version of
Adobe Acrobat for OS/2 available for downloading.
IBM has made
SOMobjects Version 2.1 toolkit for OS/2
available for downloading at no charge.
