COMi Asynchronous Serial Device Driver for OS/2

Version 3.70

What's New:

  1. Adapter setup and configuration has been streamlined, with more help and information about adapters that are supported.
  2. Support for additional adapters that support shared interrupts on ISA machines.
  3. Installation process has been improved.
  4. Support for COMscope's device driver and stream event capturing has been added.
  5. New "Simple" configuration option.
  6. Support for Startech's 16C650 UART and Texas Instruments 16C750 UART has been added.
  7. Two new DosDevIOCtl functions have been added to give better run-time control of FIFOs in general, and specifically for the hardware handshaking modes of the 16650 and 16750 UARTs.

COMi Description:

COMi is a multi-port asynchronous serial device driver for OS/2. It allows access to COM1 through COM99 in any OS/2 machine. COMi supports shared interrupts on Industry Standard Architecture (ISA) machines when used with specific serial adapters, and on Micro Channel Architecture (MCA) machines with any serial adapter.

COMi is designed to conform exactly to the Application Programming Interface as defined for Category One, Asynchronous Serial Device Drivers in the "Physical Device Driver" technical reference.

Features:

  1. Up to sixteen devices on a single hardware interrupt are supported on ISA machines.
  2. Allows user to specify all device driver buffer sizes.
  3. Serial devices from COM1 through COM99 are supported.
  4. Tests each device and interrupt connection at initialization.
  5. Supports baud rates up to 460.8K BPS.
  6. Lets user specify the start-up states of all protocol parameters.
  7. Enables applications to control the OUT1 and LOOP modem control signals.
  8. Supports hardware CTS/RTS handshaking features of the 16C650 and 16750 UARTs.
  9. Automatically detect's 4X baud rate clock.
  10. Allows user to select higher baud rates even if an application won't.
  11. DosDevIOCtl function calls to query and set the extended FIFO functionality of the 16650 and 16750 UARTs.
  12. Includes extensions for COMscope and COMspool.

COMi requires OS/2 2.0 or later.
