Interested Parties

A list of people who are interested in SGML related topics. Me, for starters! This was originally intended to be a list of Australian Interested Parties, but others have also expressed an interest in such a list so I thought I'd generalise it a bit.

If you would like to be listed here, send a note to me with a brief description of your interest in SGML. If you have a Web page that might be of interest, send its URL along too!

  • A.B. Coates

Literate programming with SGML: combining mathematical documentation and code for numerical programs in the one file, to aid expression checking.

  • John Lamp, Chris Keen et. al

We are doing work here using SGML in the field of textual databases and Z39.50.

John's page has a good directory of useful net resources...jon

  • Arjan Loeffen (M)

Interested in object-oriented models of SGML. Text Encoding Initiative (TEI). On the side: HyTime, DSSSL.

  • Eric McCandless

The Australian Defence Force has a CALS web server at: http://www.navy.gov.au/cals/home.html

I run the Navy CALS office and manage the CALS server.

Defence and especially Navy has a strong interest in CALS/SGML and has many projects which are contracted to provide technical documentation in SGML using our DEF(AUST)5629A DTD.

My SGML-related interests include: literate programming; structured specifications; low-end SGML programming APIs/tools for The Great Unwashed; SGML and OO systems (particularly Smalltalk); SGML-based application development.

  • Graham Tritt

My current work is on Oracle relational databases, full-text databases, and SGML applications, at the Swiss Federal Government.

Graham only just qualifies as an Australian interested party because he is a Kiwi who works in Switzerland. But, hey, they brought the Cup back Down Under, so I guess we can make an exception :-)!

    jon.

  • James K. Tauber

My interests include corpus linguistics, electronic texts, TEI, HTML and SMDL.

  • Richard Wittenoom

To come: A list of SGML related Web resources and pointers to search engines that can be used to find more.
