Introduction

Imagine, if you will, that someone created a game that could be either named "The Microsoft Simulator" or "Quicken: The Game"? In other words, a game that allowed you to start a company, build products, and capture market share using cunning, good marketing skills, technological prowness, and perhaps a touch of Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt. Moreover, imagine if this game also created a virtual corporate empire to manage and provided a wealth of statistics and other information for your use just as you see in many popular finance programs.

Imagine no longer, for Entrepreneur is coming!

Finally a new game from the long neglected genre that brought games like MULE to gamers everywhere. A unique game that combines real-time strategy with corporate conquest.

The Game

You've decided to start a company and become an Entrepreneur. The first thing you have to decide (for the background of the game) is what type of skills you have. Are you a scientist? An engineer? A laborer? If you're a scientist, you'll be better at researching new technologies. If you're an engineer, you'll be better at taking technologies and making something practical out of them. If you're just a hard working type of guy (or gal) you'll be better and putting it all together and getting it out the door.

Once that is established, the first thing you need to do is decide what market you want to go into. Entrepreneur will come with several pre-made industries for you to choose from such as Computer hardware and soft drinks. Add on industry modules will be made available for purchase later on that will let you compete in the aircraft, automobile, precription drugs, etc. Best of all, the specs for creating a Dynaimic Industry Module (DIMs) will be publicly available after release so that freeware, shareware authors can make their own add ons for play. A way to create your own maps will also be made available.

Your new company will need to begin making some products. Several existing off-the-shelf components will be available to build some general products. For example, if you're in the computer industry, you'll be able to pick up a monitor, a keyboard, a CPU, etc. and build a generic computer and sell it. When you first start out, you'll be doing this from your "office" (i.e. probably your garage). In order to succeed, of course, you'll need to get further up on the technological curve, improve your production capacity, and learn to market your products. To this end you can build factories, research centers, work with ad agencies, and other improvements.

Your Employees

As your company grows, you will have to hire (and probably fire) employees. You can't do it all on your own. You're going to need researchers to come up with new technologies to build, patent, license, etc. You'll need engineers to get your products to prototype quickly so that you can capitalize on your technologies. You'll need marketers to create and design TV ads, magazine ads, etc to improve your prestige (or damage your enemies' esteem). And of course, you'll need laborers to work in your factories.

Expect the Unexpected

The world ecnomy is volatile and who knows when a recession might hit or a catastrophe makes certain components hard to find. You'll need to design products for all seasons. You'll need to make sure that the cities you are trying to sell to are interested in your products and if not, advertise heavily to change that.

A few technical points!

No waiting around for your opponents to move. You do things at your own pace. You can increase or decrease the speed of the game to suit your needs.

If you're on a network, you can play your co-workers or friends at Entrepreneur. Find out who is the true financial genius in your group! Join in games in progress from a LAN or from the Internet! Entrepreneur servers will be available shortly after release!

For the ultimate in speed, Entrepreneur uses DIVE to work directly with your computer's native graphics strengths.

Mixing on the fly with up to 4 channels for sound and music will ensure that Entrepreneur doesn't just look good -- it sounds good!

Unlike most DOS games, Entrepreneur was designed from scratch to be a next generation game. Not only will it have state of the art graphics, music, sound, etc. but also multitask within itself, have a powerful AI (artificial intelligence engine), and be very fast. These are features that OS/2 users are aware of but are new to games on Windows95 and Windows NT. Right when you start the game where the world is being created in the background yet you can enter in your data, Entrepreneur is the most multithreaded game Stardock has ever developed.

Note. The snapshots are still very primitive, the final graphics will look MUCH better!
