Research Papers and other Documents
Coming soon -- some experiences with Lan Server for Macintosh, IBM's product
that turns Lan Server into an AppleTalk host. First impression: the most
undermarketted product ever!
My primary research interests are multivariate analysis, distribution
testing, and various problems in applied statistics. Below is a very partial
list of papers and documents. I hope to make each section more complete at
some point.
- Fisher Information for Location as a Dimension Reduction
Criterion and Multivariate Normality Test: postscript version. I hope to have an HTML version
available soon. There's also a gzipped
postscript copy.
- An algorithm for estimating Weibull mixture distributions ... not
available yet.
In addition to academic statistical papers, I have a series of white papers on
computer use. These have been used for training sessions with clients,
university classes, and general internet community use.
Then there's the miscellaneous software I've released to the world -- some
statistical, some utility.
- PopCliD - popclient daemon for OS/2. Retrieve mail
from a POP mail server for use to LaMail, UltiMail, or Elm (or any mailer
compatible with one of these). You can download the zip or read the docs. The original
popclient (i.e., the Unix version) has been updated to version 3, but so far
I have not had time to work on the port. If anyone wants to help on this,
it will be gladly accepted.
- psnup - OS/2 port of unix shell script and postscript
wrapper for printing postscript n-up, i.e., printing n virtual pages per
physical page. n can be 2, 4, 8, or 16. You can download the zip file from
hobbes.nmsu.edu
or get it from here. You'll also find a
tutorial on postscript.
Note that there is now a complete psutils for OS/2 that includes a
binary (.exe) psnup. It is on
hobbes.
- Kernel regression macros for
Minitab - These are rather old, but I don't think I'll get
around to updating them in the near future. They are actually "EXECS"
not "MACROS" (in Release 9+ terminology).
- Probably some others I don't remember now. Take
a look at directory itself, if you like.
