Symptoms

After a crash the system does not accept the lockup password. If the 'lock on startup' option was set to on, the user cannot use the machine, because it locks up after a reboot automatically.

Hardware

486 DX2 33MHz, 16MB RAM, OS/2 2.1

Pentium 90MHz 16MB RAM, OS/2 Warp (No FixPak was applied.)

Problem

During a crash the system loses the last three letters of the lockup password.

Fix

Use the old password without the last three letters to unlock the machine and change back the password to the original one.

Notes

I do not think that it is hardware dependent.
