Hardware

Mozart Sound card (OTI 601) in OS/2 WARP for Windows (Red Spine)

Problem

When using the inizialization basedev mozart.sys the card work as a Sound Blaster Pro but only at 8 bit.

Procedure

Use the drivers for Reveal Audio card (REVL_SC5.ZIP) at ftp.leo.org or http://www.leo.org. These drivers use the Mozart card at 16 bit, also use the OPL3 under OS/2, but are not compatible with the drivers shipped with the card.

Notes

To use all features of this card under DOS/WINDOWS and under OS/2 use the following instruction:

  1. Install only the support for OS/2 then EDIT the file SYSTEM.INI and delete all lines that have the occurences MOZART.DRV and MOZART.386.

  2. Copy the file SYSTEM.INI in SYSTEM.DOS and install the support for WIN/OS2.

  3. Edit the file AUTOEXEC.BAT (OS/2) and add at the end of file:

    	IF EXIST X:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM.DOS GOTO END
            REN X:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM.INI *.DOS
            REN X:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM.OS2 *.INI
            :END

  4. Restart whit DOS and edit the file AUTOEXEC.BAT adding at the end of file:

    	IF EXIST X:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM.OS2 GOTO END
            REN X:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM.INI *.OS2
            REN X:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM.DOS *.INI
            :END

  5. Rename the files SYSTEM.INI in SYSTEM.OS2 and the SYSTEM.DOS in SYSTEM.INI.
