Symptoms

TRAP 0006 in Device Driver OEMHLP$ after upgrading OS/2 2.1 to Warp

Hardware

ACER 2x IDE CDROM
Western Digital WDC AC31200F 1.2GB HDD

Problem

Drivers left in CONFIG.SYS by OS/2 2.1 cause traps in Warp.

Procedure

Edit CONFIG.SYS and REM out the .ADD files that are not required.

Notes

I reinstalled OS/2 2.1, with no troubles, and it worked well.. When I installed WARP (I had the BLUE spine upgrade), I got a TRAP 006 in Device Driver OEMHLP$. Needless to say, I reinstalled 2.1 and Warp several times, but no luck - still the same error message.

Finally, I took a look at the CONFIG.SYS file, and found that 2.1 installed just about every .add driver it had (apparently, 2.1 did not recognize either my new CD rom, or my hard drive, but it still worked (no idea why.) Before I tried the umpteenth installation of Warp. I REM'd those .add lines out of CONFIG.SYS, and Warp installed without any troubles.
