Symptoms

x:\MMOS2\SBD2.SYS has not been installed. Line yy is ignored.

Hardware

Packard Bell sound cards preinstalled in their Force series of computers.

Problem

The SBD2.SYS driver is made by Creative Labs. It contains a security check so that only genuine Sound Blasters can be used. This is apparently the same problem for many clone Sound Blaster compatible cards.

Procedure

Packard Bell has an OS/2 driver for the sound card on their Web site: http://www.packardbell.com/. Get the file "SND16OS2.EXE" from their file area and run it to create a driver disk. There is a text file describing the installation procedure as well as troubleshooting tips on the driver disk created.
