MGI unveils VideoWave
Richmond Hill, Ont.-based MGI Software Corp. previewed its new VideoWave
digital editing and effects program at Fall Comdex in Las Vegas.
VideoWave, which is designed to give the average PC users an extremely powerful,
inexpensive and easy-to-use system for editing video on a home computer,
is a 32-bit program for Windows 95 and Windows NT.
In a demonstration for The Computer Paper at the Silicon Northwest media
night, a pre-release version of VideoWave was used to create sophisticated
videos from raw digitized video footage. VideoWave has a simple interface
compared to other digital video editing programs like Adobe Premier. On
a notebook, VideoWave quickly and intuitively stitched together segments
of digital video captured with a video capture card and created custom transitions,
effects, animated titles, and saved digital video files in a variety of
formats.
MGI wants to make high-quality digital-video editing literally child's play
for the mainstream PC user. VideoWave is expected to ship in the first half
of this year, and will have a street price of about $129.-Jeff Evans
