ApplePC Download 2.52 12/18/96 DOS David Ellsworth has made an almost perfect emulator for the Apple //e, //c, and ][+ for DOS. It runs in various screen modes, and even supports Mockingboard emulation through a SB-compatible Sound Card. This emulator requires system roms for the Apple //c, Apple //e, and Apple ][+ computers, so that the emulator can run.

Release 1 1/6/98 DOS Appler is a fast Apple ][+ emulator, which can run full speed on a 486/33, and is even able to run at an acceptable speed on 386's! It is coded in 16 bit assembly, and emulates sound through the PC speaker. It runs just about every Apple ][+ game or application there is, and has a nice interface. It's worth a download.

Win95 + Win3.1 (with win32s) AppleWin is an excellent emulator of the Apple //e and ][+ computers. It features full speed playability on a mid-level 486. Sound emulation is placed either throught the PC speaker or any sound card, and the Super Serial Card is emulated through the PC COM ports. A slowdown setting is available for decent play on a Pentium. For more information & software for the Apple // systems, ftp.apple.asimov.net is a great resource.

Windows 95 and DOS XGS is the only known Apple II GS emulator to date. It has ports for Windows 95, DOS, many flavors of Un*x, and the MAC. There is sound support, and it runs most Apple II GS software, although it is rather slow. Currently, the Windows 95 version is the only one I recommend trying, as many people have difficulty getting the DOS version to work right. The Windows 95 version requires Direct-X. Both versions require an image of the Apple II GS boot rom, either 01 or 03. Both versions are included in the XGS Boot Roms pack, available here at Zophar's Domain.
