0.50b1 4/11/99 DOS Boycott is an emulator which is being coded in C and has been ported to a number of platforms. It is quite fast, and runs 90% of games, although there is currently no sound support. You will probably want to wait for the next release, which will have sound support.
DBOY Download 0.50 5/04/99 DOS This seems like just another hack of VGB-DOS, except that it has Color GameBoy support. It's coded by a japanese author, but being a hack, everything but the documentation is english. Run with -cgb to enable CGB emulation. Give it a try if you dare.
Fondle Download ?.?? 8/2/96 DOS While at first glance, it seems to be advanced, this emulator is nothing more than a hack of an old version of VGB-DOS. It has sound and such, but isn't really worth the download. This out-of-date emulator is just here for nostalgia.
Gameboy 98 Download 0.05c 1/9/99 Windows This is a new GameBoy emulator, and currently runs at full speed on Pentium class computers. It has sound, and even has CGB (Color GameBoy) emulation! It runs a lot of games currently. You'll want to download this if you want CGB emulation and don't want to spend money.

2.937 7/1/97 DOS This is a GameBoy emulator by Paul Robson written in assembler, and is one of the fastest out there. It supports game genie, background selections, pretty good sound and more! It also sports built in fixes for games that didn't work, and multiple resolutions.
GBE Download 0.30 6/16/98 DOS This is a Gameboy emulator from the author of PCNES. It's coded in 32 bit 386 assembly, is very fast, uses the Adlib port for sound emulation, has joystick support, and real time save/loading. It also has a simple GUI to load files. It's worth a download.
gbemu Download 0.42.4 2/8/99 Win9x I can't believe we missed this little emulator as it's actually quite good for a Windows GB emulator. It doesn't emulate very many mappers but from what I could see it ran the things it ran very good. It's in Japanese by default, but just start it up, quit and then edit the .ini file and set the Japanese option to 0 and it'll turn into an English version.
GBFAN Plus Download 1.13 3/14/99 Windows (DirectX) This emulator is part of a series of japanese *fan98 emulators. It's for Windows, and is pretty fast (it should be able to acheive full speed on a P133). It has sound support, and I *think* the ability to log MIDIs is included. However, it's shareware, has directional controls disabled, and costs 2000 yen to register. I know nothing else about this emulator, so if anyone is able to translate the documentation, please e-mail me.
GBSIM Download 0.99 5/20/96 DOS Another rather useless emulator, all GBSIM can do is CPU emulation and it has a debugger. In fact, all it really is, is a debugger! It's here because the author of VPCE, a Tg16 emulator for DOS, made this emulator years ago, so here it is, for nostalgia purposes.
GBUK Download 1.01 1/11/98 DOS This is a new Game Boy emulator that seems to have popped out from nowhere and not much is known about it. I suggest you give it a try, though. It seems to be a quite normal emulator. There is a german version too, but I'll only provide a link to it below.
German version
helloGB Download 110309 3/9/99 Win 9X HelloGB is made by the author "pop3". It supports GBC/SGB, has excellent sound, and runs very fast. It also has extra options such as saving and loading states, auto frameskip, and joypad support. This is one of the best Windows Gameboy emulators I've ever seen. It requires DirectX 5.2 or higher. Try it out, you're bound to love it.
Hyperboy Download 0.3 Build 74 2/18/96 Windows 95 Another hack of Marat Fayzullin's VGB, this emulator is very out of date, has no sound, and is a little slow. It is only here for nostalgia purposes, to see all the GameBoy emulators that came out around 1996.
KGB Download 0.20 3/17/99 DOS This is an average GameBoy emulator. Written in a mix of 32 bit assembly and Delphi, this DOS based emulator runs pretty fast, although crashes a lot under Windows95, so you should run it under DOS. It has many new features in the current release. No sound yet, so it's not really worth downloading at the present time.
NO$GMB Download 2.1a 3/15/99 DOS This emulator, written in 100% assembly language, is similar to Gameboy 97. It is quite fast, although it's adlib sound is inferior to VGB-DOS, and even GB '97. It has real time save/loading, saves battery ram, can emulate up to 4 gameboys at a time, Super/Color GameBoy support and has Game Genie support. This is most likely the best gameboy emulator around.
SMYGB Download 0.20 1/2/99 Windows 9X This is one of the newer Gameboy emulators. It is coded in C++ by Ming-yu Shih. Although a little slow (needs a p166 and above), this emulator runs most GameBoy games, has sound (uses Direct Sound), several window sizes, a full screen mode (Direct Draw), and can save/load states and sram. It even has preliminary Super GameBoy support. If you like emulators for the Windows platform, then this is a good emulator to try out.

DOS and Win95 This is the oldest and one of the best GameBoy emulators available. It can run most GameBoy games flawlessly, has near-perfect sound, game genie and even color support! This is the FINAL version, however. There are other emulators around with better compatibility, but none match VGB-DOS's sound.

The Windows version, which has no sound, is a commercial emulator, which costs $35. There is a crippled demo for an older version available for it. It has Super GameBoy, Color GameBoy, and even Nintendo Pocket Camera support. You might want to stick with the DOS version, unless you prefer all the added features of the Windows version, as well as a GUI and better compatibility. The choice is yours.

VGB-Lord Download 6.0 3/1/97 DOS This doesn't even get the liberty of being called a 'hack'. All it does is it extracts an older version of VGB-DOS to a file called data, and then acts as a frontend for VGB-DOS. Check didn't really write the emuator, he just wrote the frontend and stuck VGB-DOS in. Not really worth a download.
