DarcNES is a newer DOS/Linux NES emulator, also emulates Sega Master System and PCE. It supports the most common mappers and also includes sound support. The documentation currently lacks some important information (such as the controls) but you can find them on the DarcNES homepage.

0.1b5 05/30/98 Linux/SvgaLib FCE is a new NES emulator, although it's in early stages it supports sound using /dev/dsp and a fair amount of mappers (1,2,3,4,7,10,16,17,24,32,65,66). So get this one if you don't like the other ones. According to the homepage, FCE is discontinued, but who knows?
fwNES Download 0.151 03/30/98 Linux/SvgaLib In my opinion, fwNES is the best NES emulator for Linux. It supports iNES mappers 0-34 except 6,12-14,20,26-31 and fwNES mappers 64-85,88 and 100. It has also got good sound support and is pretty fast. Download this or you'll be sorry...

iNES is an pretty old NES emulator but it's still one of the emulators with the best compatiblity. The only problem with this emulator is that it runs in X11 in Linux and does not support fullscreen like fwNES. I haven't tried the all of the Unix ports, but it's worth a download.
Nestra Download 0.64 09/18/99 Linux/X11 Nestra is a nice new NES emu for Linux, it uses dynamic recompiling to get more speed but it is still in early stages and features no sound and has some bugs, but it's still nice.
NextFCE Download 0.20b 10/09/99 FreeBSD NextFCE is a new emulator based on BERO's FCE source. I have not tried this emulator since I don't run FBSD, if anyone give me a quick run-down of the emulator, that'd be great, or if any has time to translate the homepage or the docs that'd good too.

0.72 10/01/99 Unix/X11 A new emulator based on the Nestra source.
XNes Download 0.49 12/27/97 Linux/SvgaLib Although the development has been stopped, this is an ok emulator, with sound.
