Gex 3: Deep Pocket Gecko |

It's strange when the Game Boy port is better than the original |

| There's nothing scarier than Santa Claus. The boots, the presents, the evil, evil laugh. |

One of those rare third party Game Boy games that looks like actual effort was put into its creation, Gex 3 is a platformer that's pretty, inventive and, most importantly, fun. The premise is simple. Like all geckos in the wild, Gex must run from level to level hitting other animals with his tail and collecting TV remotes. Each remote opens up new levels, or channels, that range from a magical Christmas special to an awesome all-Anime channel. The only downside to the title is the objectives, which often aren't as clear as they could be, and the level design, which can be confusing due to lack of differentiation. Those are both minor complaints, though, and neither stops this little game from standing out in the Game Boy's crowd of hastily cranked-out crap platform games.

Falling doesn't actually hurt Gex's health, just his pride. |
Investigating Gex's world involves some serious library time. |
Yeah, there's a stupid password feature. It's long too. Oh well. |
