It's a little-known fact that expert anglers are always looking for the next big fishing game for the Nintendo 64. That's why THQ has come out with Bass Masters 2000, one of the most definitive fishing sims on the N64 (for whatever that's worth). The game does contain a lot of depth -- players can compete in tournaments, exhibitions, speed fishing and even casting competitions (sort of like lawn darts on water). But even with the depth, the game is still a fishing simulation, and so completely uninteresting for anyone but those who love and admire such games. The fish behavior, environmental effects and even lures will appeal to the master bass hunter -- those looking for something to play after they've found all the bananas in Donkey Kong 64 need not apply.

Unlike real fishing, this game lets players see the bass take the bait. |
Catching the big ones isn't easy. And no, this isn't a big one. |
The casting game lets anglers practice their casts. |
