Find Your Incumbent - Address Matching
Because data from FYI comes from several sources, FYI may not be able to provide specific district information for a given address or location. In determining district information for an address, FYI must contain information at one of these levels:
- ZIP+4
- ZIP Code
- County
- City
When you type an address, FYI standardizes it using address matching software and attempts to return a ZIP+4. FYI uses the ZIP+4 to identify a census block; district information is displayed for the census block, not the street address, so there can be more than one district of a particular type on the results screen.
- If FYI identifies a ZIP+4 but does not have census block information at the ZIP+4 level, FYI will provide information based on the ZIP Code.
- If FYI is unable to standardize an address, FYI will attempt to show districts based on the input city or ZIP Code rather than the standardized address.
Source of Data Supporting FYI
- Address information is based on United States Postal Service standardized addresses (including ZIP+4 information). FYI uses address matching software that has been certified by the USPS as meeting all ZIP+4 coding requirements. This information is updated bimonthly.
- District boundaries come from the Texas Legislative Council's Redistricting Division.
- Member address and phone information comes from the Texas Legislative Council's Member Information System, Correspondence Management System, and the Legislative Reference Library.
