Adds VPN Routing Feature to Sybergen Access Server, a Secure
Internet Access Solution for Business Environments
Router
Supports Mixed VPN Environments for Multiple Client Communications
Requiring Secure Tunneling
Fremont,
CALIF. -Dec. 7, 1999-
Sybergen Networks today announced that its Sybergen Access
Server ™, a powerful, secure Internet access server
software package, now features an integrated Virtual Private
Network (VPN) router that supports individual client computers
communicating with a wide variety of external VPN servers
via individual VPN paths. This new capability enables multiple
people within a business to cost-effectively share Internet
access, improve bandwidth management and communicate with
remote VPNs using a variety of protocols. The use of VPNs
is exploding as more businesses move their operations onto
the Internet. With the proliferation of VPN standards, companies
need an access server that offers shared Internet access but
also supports secure tunneling in multiple VPN flavors,"
said Chris Guo, founder and president, Sybergen Networks,
Inc. "Even small businesses are finding that their
customers and suppliers are requiring them to access a VPN
to place orders, calculate future demand or review account
billing. Sybergen's solution is designed to make VPN
routing easy to implement in any size network."
The
Sybergen Access Server (previously called SyAccess) turns
a PC or server into a shared access gateway and eliminates
the need to add devices such as routers, traffic shapers and
firewalls into a network. It supports PPTP and IPsec VPN protocols,
including Microsoft PPTP, Nortel (Bay), Intel (Shiva) and
others. The Sybergen Access Server is compatible with
all access technologies, including analog modem, cable modem,
xDSL, DirecPC and T1. Users of the Sybergen Access Server
include small businesses and enterprise satellite offices
with small- to medium-sized networks that want to provide
Internet access to their employees transparently, securely
and with maximum bandwidth. The Sybergen Access Server is
built on the Sybergen Platform, the foundation technology
that integrates Sybergen's products and enables rapid deployment
of services. The Sybergen Access Server also features:
- Integrated
gateway for shared Internet access.
-
Dynamic
optimization that regulates traffic flows, eliminating
the slowdowns caused by large file transfers.
-
Bandwidth
allocation that enables users, groups and Internet applications
to be given priority, ensuring expedient handling of business-critical
communications.
-
Modem
pooling that aggregates the bandwidth of multiple modems
for faster throughput and response.
-
Secure
firewall to protect the gateway against the hacker attacks
associated with "always on" technologies, such
as cable modem and xDSL.
-
Site
filtering that features black and white lists to define
which sites are off limits or available to users.
-
Diagnostic
tool that ensures that the existing network is configured
properly, recommends changes and modifies parameters before
it is installed.
