Sygate Home Network 4.0 Features Innovative OneNIC Internet Sharing Solution and Built-in Home Network Firewall

Fremont, CALIF.¾September 5, 2000 - Sygate® Technologies, Inc. (formerly Sybergen Networks), a leading provider of Internet security and access management solutions for the mobile enterprise generation, today announced the introduction of its innovative OneNIC™ Internet Sharing Solution through the release of the newest version of its flagship software product, Sygate Home Network™ 4.0. Sygate's unique OneNIC technology will significantly simplify the process of installing the capability for a shared Internet connection. With OneNIC, users will not need to install a second network adaptor to share an Internet connection.

Sygate Home Network enables users to share a single Internet connection amongst multiple PCs. While Sygate Home Network provides a very simple Internet access sharing solution, it has previously been very challenging for users to install a second network adapter into their computers. Current Internet connection sharing (ICS) software requires a second network adapter to be used. This can be a difficult process, requiring that users open the computer, find an empty slot, plug in the adapter, install the driver for the adapter, bind TCP/IP protocol to the adapter, and set the correct network parameters for that binding.

"Sygate Technologies' OneNIC eliminates this difficult process. OneNIC is made possible by creating a software-based virtual NIC. The real NIC is used for connecting to the cable/DSL modem and the virtual NIC is used to communicate with the other computers in the local area network (LAN)," explained Chris Guo, founder and chief technology officer, Sygate Technologies, Inc. "This solution will significantly simplify the process of sharing of cable modem and DSL connections for home and SOHO users."

In addition to the introduction of Sygate Technologies' OneNIC technology, other new features in Sygate Home Network 4.0 include PPPoE support (IP Fragment support). Sygate Home Network 4.0 will support PPPoE, which uses different MTU with standard Ethernet. Sygate Home Network 4.0 is compatible with Sygate Personal Firewall™ 2.1 (formerly Sybergen Secure Desktop) and all later versions of Sygate Personal Firewall. It also features improved installation functionality, improved upgradability, and an improved graphic user interface (GUI).

Sygate Home Network 4.0 is priced from $39.95 for a three-user license and up to $299.95 for an unlimited user license. It is available for purchase through a secure online web server by using VISA, MasterCard and American Express. The full functional trial version is available for free downloading from Sygate Technologies Inc.'s website located at www.sygate.com.
