CrossTalk: ASIAN AND PACIFIC AMERICAN SENSUALITY AND SEXUALITY
CrossTalk (vb.) To exchange across disciplines. To move beyond
boundaries. To hear and be heard.
CrossTalk is the first national conference on sensuality and sexuality in
Asian and Pacific American (APA) communities. CrossTalk will candidly
discuss difficult and often silenced issues surrounding sensuality and
sexuality. It will provide participants with opportunities to cross
disciplinary boundaries. Biomedical researchers, health care providers,
humanists, social scientists, writers, artists, activists, and community
workers will exchange the latest developments in their fields.
The conference is presented by the Center for Sex Research and the Asian
American Studies Department at California State University, Northridge,
the Department of Psychiatry, UCLA/SFV, and the Gay Vietnamese Alliance.
Registration: $50.00 until April 1, 1997
$65.00 after April 1, 1997
Registration includes: Conference Activities, Comprehensive
Bibliography, Continental Breakfast, Lunch, Buffet Reception, and
Evening Performance
Special $45.00 rate for members of the Association for Asian American
Studies (AAAS), Asian & Pacific Americans in Higher Education (APAHE),
Gay Vietnamese Alliance, CSUN Faculty or Staff, and Dept. of
Psychiatry, UCLA/SFV.
Limited student registration scholarships are available. Student
registration scholarship recipients will be randomly selected and
notified on April 11, 1997. See application below.

Performance coordinated by the Gay Vietnamese Alliance
Morning sessions and the late afternoon session will be plenary
presentations, each followed by Q & A with the audience. They will
provide a multidisciplinary context for all participants. "Multiple
Voices" sessions are planned as small group exchanges.
*Poets and writers interested in presenting 5-10 minute readings or
artists interested in displaying their work should contact conference
organizers immediately. Time and space are limited. Those selected for
inclusion shall be notified by April 15, 1997,

Directions to CSUN: The Conference will be held at the University Student
Union at California State University, Northridge which is located in the
northwest suburb of Los Angeles. Go north on the 405 Freeway into the
San Fernando Valley. Take the Nordhoff St. off-ramp and proceed west 2.7
miles. At the corner of Nordoff and Zelzah St. turn right and proceed
two stoplights to Plummer St. Take a left turn on Plummer to enter
Faculty Parking Lot C. Parking is $1.75 for the day. Once parked look
for the signs directing you to the Student Union.
