Cooking a Steak

Here's a brief summary of how I cook a steak.

Purchase your steak a day in advance. This is important, as this gives the marinade time to soak into the steak. The strategy I use is to purchase a steak with good marbling, preferably T-bone or rib eye steaks. The sirloin steaks will work if you are into the bulk eating thing. You must now prepare the marinade. Take a bowl, and add soy sauce. Chop up a hunk of ginger and add it as well. 2 cloves of garlic goes in, and put a shot of rye whisky in as well. A shot of teriyaki sauce works well here too. Put your steak(s) in a plastic bag with the sauce and let it sit in the fridge for a day or so.

The next day, take your steak(s) out of the fridge, and start the barbecue. You will probably get better results from using charcoal, however if you're like me and a bit on the lazy side, gas works well too. Preheat the barbecue. Put your steak on the fire for about 5 minutes, flip, and cook for 5 more minutes (this is for rare).
