In the endless search for the perfect pie, the small Pizza Napoli served at Matteo's Little Taste of Hoboken at 2323 Westwood Blvd., 1/2 block north of Pico, comes very close. Thin crusted, cheese, tomato sauce, fresh basil, comes in one small size only. It has lots of runny olive oil, could use less cheese, more sauce, but has that certain old-fashioned NY/NJ flavor (I can't quite make it out - do they use more than one type of cheese?). If I remember, next time I'll ask for extra sauce. Metered street parking is hard to find at any time of day. Closes early at about 8:30 PM. Rating: 9, on a scale of 0-10. (Revisited often and found a very heavy hand on the cheese and stinginess on the sauce - even after being asked to ease up on the cheese. I have a feeling the original talented chef moved on. Too bad - my rating of this pie has gone down to 7.5).
