Message: | Tangential quesion: on a trip to San Francisco several years ago, I ended up eating dinner at a Vietnamese place on Geary with a largely non-English=speaking clientele. I ended up getting, purely by hit-and-miss, something that I think was called (something like) "Sugar-cane shrimp rolls" which featured a sort of ground-shrimp mousse or paste(if it were European and pretentious, they woulda called it "forcemeat" or somethin'...) baked onto pieces of sugar-cane, served with rice-paper wrappers, and huge stacks of various herbs, which we assembled ourselves into spring-roll like combinations. It was wonderful. Does anyone know the proper name for this, and if/where it can be gotten in greater LA?
