Message: | Great pizza in SoCal is always hard to find but well worth the effort. Unfortunately for deep dish stuff, it's gonna take a drive...go east, young man. To Moreno Valley (think almost Palm Springs) and a small family run restaurant called the Chicago Pasta House right off SR60 on Sunnymead Blvd just west of the Perris exit. Tell Dino the owner that you heard about the place on the internet and he will be a friend for life (heck, on our last visit, he chased us out to the car just give my wife a kiss on the cheek). This is deep dish pizza heaven...the crust...the sauce...the CHEESE! The only real thing I've had west of the Mississippi (although I have heard Zachary's in Berkeley is also very good).
Just make sure you order twice what you want, so that you can happily take some home (and it's probably a long drive, so you might get hungry anyway!) If this place was in a more trendy area, it would do an enormous amount of business. One of these days, I'm gonna order the great looking thin crust pizza, but I haven't been able to NOT order the deep dish in my visits so far!
