Message: | Thank you Sheryl and Rafi for your support. However, in the face of attacks by several critics, I'm taking this private. Here are my justifications:
1. This board has been a flame free zone for as long as I've been here. If somebody says, "Hey, here's a great restaurant", nobody posts and says, "No, you're an idiot, don't go to that restaurant again and don't tell us you liked it." I am offended that Bob and LH felt the need to point out the stupidity and misguided nature of Sheryl's idea and my personal effort to do something I thought was right. They have not scared me away or dissuaded me: they have just harrassed me into choosing a different venue. See ya, guys.
2. Bob's argument that this is a restaurant board not a fema board is well taken, and appropriate point. But then he goes on to suggest that we devote our energy to the New Yorkers instead of the tragedy-related circumstance of a local restaurant. Personally, I fail to understand why anyone would criticize another for trying to do good for a cause that interests them. This is a restaurant board. So restaurants are particularly close to our hearts. So it makes complete sense that we would be interested in a local and topically pertinent cause. Secondarily, maybe Bob failed to notice the threads on the general board (AND THE NEW YORK BOARD!!!) concerning support for middle eastern eating establishments. I do not think this is an inappropriate issue for this board. Boards across the nation are straying from their typical topics to address issues related to the tragedy that touch their groups.
So that's the end of my rant. I will cease to take up your space for this topic. (I, however, will be back many times on regular restaurant threads. Nothing could make me abandon this board! See you all soon.)
