Yes, the neighborhood is Hispanic-as is a large percentage of the valley-but this doesn't make it dangerous. I am not sure if that's why you're implying this is an iffy area, but to me it just seems a typical working class neighborhood.
 
Oh, and since this is supposed to be about food, Follow Your Heart is a long-time health food store on Sherman Way, just west of Topanga, that has great veggie sandwiches and soups.
