Don't mean to sound like the Geography Police, but Arcadia *is* in the San Gabriel Valley. :) I grew up and went to school in Arcadia, and at the time (late 80's) it was astonishing how few decent Chinese restaurants there were in Arcadia, compared to how many Chinese people lived there.

Come to think of it, there still aren't that many, but you can put together a memorable evening with a dumpling dinner at Din Tai Fung followed by tea at Au 79. If you're in more of a sushi mood (and feeling flush), Sakana is right around the corner, too. Take away these 3 places, though, and dining in Arcadia is almost as depressing an experience as it was in my high school days. Fortunately, there are a lot more good places in the surrounding cities: Pasadena, Monrovia, El Monte, heck even Sierra Madre.
