Message: | Thanks Chowhounds! Let me start by saying the only 2 places I have been to before last nite on La Cienega were "Ed Debevic's & Benihana and maybe one other. I prefer to do my "chowhounding" away from that area of town, and more in the outlying areas of LA County, and in Central & Northen Calif. Alto Palato was very nice though. Started with salad, which was "huge". For me a meal unto itself! Also had a very strong Vodka/Cranberry beverage!(could not even finish without risk of getting "DUI"... I ordered the halibut, with lentels, which was also a huge portion. 9-12oz's of fish. Spiced really well. When the dessert menu came by I had to pass because I was teaching "spin class" the next morning, and too much sugar the nite before make for a lathargic instructor... However I was witha party of 18, and they ordered a "platter that had every dessert Alto made. The group said the gelato was great, and the flourless choclate cake were the favorites. i probably wold have gone for the "apple tart/cinnamon" thing myself. All said & done I would definately reccomend Alto Palato. The most expensive item on the menu was $25.00 for the multi-course chef's choice.... Hopefully I will survive doing "support" for the Avon Walk this weekend from Santa Barabra to Malibu, and find some good Chow up in Ventura.... |
