Message: | I love a good cheese plate but *sigh* not after a big meal. Here are my suggestions, besides making your own from The Cheese Store, Say Cheese, or LA Brea Bakery. 1) Cobras and Matadoras, a new place on Beverly has a very nice cheese plate $9ish with some fruit and crackers; cheeses interesting, the right temperature, etc. 2) Campanille has a very nice cheese plate you can get at the bar, but the portions are small (if perfect) and expensive. Interesting britsh selection at the bakery, ask for George. 3) Lucque has a better priced cheese plate, also available at the bar. Perfect meal with a Summer Tomato Sandwhich 4) Patina has a great cheese cart, top notch. We called in advance one night to see if they would seat us late for drinks and a cheese plate. They said yes but it was very, very odd. They were totally unprepared for us, the waiter was rather rude, and service was thrown off. The cheese was terrific but I had to demand another glass of wine. Maybe in the bar? 5) We had dinner at Melisse a few nights ago (my wallet lost ten pounds) and they had a lovely-looking cart. Too full. =( 6) Father's Office has nice, very well priced cheeses |
