I concur with all the kudos for Alto Palato--it's my favorite Italian in L.A. A BIG word of warning to anyone trying to avoid the valet--read the parkings signs on La Cienega and the side streets very, very carefully, as although there are meters on the side streets, I believe that you are not able to park at them after 10 p.m. One time while dining at Alto Palato I did just that and got a parking ticket. It's my opinion that there is a conspiracy between the valet parking companies and the city, because there was absolutely no reason I could see why there should be no parking at a meter on a commercial street after 10 p.m., but that's what the signs say, and from personal experience, they are enforced.
