My husband and I recently dined at Pradeep's, on Montana, in Santa Monica. They style themselves a "Lite" and "Healthy" Indian restaurant. My husband and I each ordered a combination platter, although I was concerned that given the list of items, curried or tandoori chicken, dal, curried vegetables, rice, salad, raita, nan, that we might have too much food. Not a problem! We were served metal, TV dinner tray type plates, with a few, small spoonfuls of the various dishes, in the sections. My husband's tandoori chicken breast was about the smallest piece of chicken I've ever seen in a restaurant! I asked him if it was good, and he said there wasn't enough for him to form an opinion! We ordered basket after basket of nan, for which we were charged, to try to make more of a meal of the experience. In fairness, the flavors were bright, the dal was especially good, and the chicken curry had a pleasant bite. We were test driving this restaurant using the two for one offer in the Entertainment Club book, and wondered afterwards if that was the reason the staff gave us such tiny portions. At $14.50 for each plate, we figured we paid about the right price for the quantity of food at half off!
