Message: | I have read all of the threads on this board on M&F;, going back to the beginning. People either love it or hate it, get it or don't get it. I am on the affirmative side of both equations. I've been there dozens of times, most recently earlier this week for an early dinner at the bar. Caesar salad - terrific. New York Strip - not as good as the better steakhouses in town, but less expensive and quite good. Hash browns - perfect. Martini - best in show. Add the great sourdough bread, ambience - close to a perfect meal. Yes, the menu has some ghastly stuff; yes, it claims that the chef is from Paris, France (did they think we would not know where Paris is?). Choose wisely, and I think that it may very be the quintessential LA restaurant. |
