In a strange coincidence the latest, December, issue of Vogue magazine has Jeffrey Steingarten writing an entire story about dates and date shakes, including giving what reads like a wonderful recipe for making your own at home. The recipe is adapted from Shields Date Gardens and includes phone numbers for obtaining the necessary ingredients, one of which is date sugar.
