Ah, yes. I used to live on what Zagat terms 'sushi gulch' in Studio City. There are some impressive places but if you want fine sushi, go to Sushi Nozawa on Ventura Blvd. near Tujunga. It's in this awful mini-mall with no parking (park on the street and feed the metres) but the sushi is awesome.
 
People complain about the chef's attitude but if you go in and say omakase there shouldn't be a problem. (The only time I ever saw anyone get thrown out it was because he had SAID omakase but didn't MEAN it, he wanted tekkamaki.)
