Message: | If you go west on Arizona from 2nd, then there's a stand on the left that has been selling what they call "baby broccoli" (I don't think that's the right name, but then they're the farmers). It's cheap, like $1 for a big bundle, and I've been buying two or three bundles at a time. It's much better than regular broccoli, and you can usually eat the whole stem without peeling it. If you prefer regular broccoli then very good stuff, very green and impressive-looking (though it requires careful washing) can be had at the stand at the southwest corner of 2nd and Arizona. On the northeast corner of Arizona and 2nd are people who sell enormous, very good squash. On 2nd a little ways south of Arizona, on the west side of the street, are people who have had several unusual varieties of pumpkins, all organic as I recall, though I haven't gotten around to trying them yet. Toward the north end of 2nd street is a stand (Baizun Bakery, something like that) that sells bread that I believe is yeast-free; they are seen at several of the markets. And that's the winter produce, never mind all the fruit etc in the summer. |
