Today, as a birthday present, a friend of mine took me to Dos Burritos, a small hole-in-the-wall Mexican place that was very very good. It's just down the block from the Panteges (sp?) Theatre on Hollywood/Vine in Hollywood.

I had a very good tostada on a flat crispy shell, topped with some really good carne asada, and an amazing marinade. I was curious, however, that they only served each dish with a side of 4 tortilla chips, instead of the usual handful or two.

My friend, who has been going there for years, said that he always gets a chicken burrito, which looked fairly large, and probably was also very good. He also says that Luis is their best cook, and was cooking while we were there.

We also split a plate of chips with guacamole and mozzarella cheese melted over them...devine. The guacamole was very creamy and flowed very well down, unlike some other guacamoles that I have had.

I had a large horchata, which I loved, and curious, it had crushed ice, which is far better than cubed ice, but seemed odd at first.

All in all, it was $15 for all of that, which seemed fair, considering that we got an extra plate to split, and I had a large beverage.

It's a really small place, with 10 barstools, 5 facing the kitchen, and 5 facing to the window, with all the stools filled, there's about room for 4 people to stand. I would also recommend their pretty hot, but nonetheless good salsa that is in a silver tin and floats around the bar, and also their cooked veggies, (onions, carrots, chilis) in a similar tin. My friend warned against the chilis, but I tried two...they were quite good, but I will say that I was glad that I had my horchata!
