I haven't been there in a couple of years, but I've enjoyed the place a lot in the past, especially for the upscale cowboy ambience. I'd certainly give it a try if I were from SF.
 
BTW, I just tried elk myself last week for the first time at the Chateau Whistler in Whistler, Canada. It was pretty good, but not something I'd want to make a regular component of my diet. But the price was better up there, of course. Favorable exchange rate.
