Oki Dog for french fries?

Yuk.

I could not eat but one. The oil was so vial and rancid that nausea set in before the chip made it to my mouth.

For that matter, the french fries at most LA fast food stands are impossibly bad. For the most part they are frozen.

The following are a few frite ideas. All are twice fried. None are quite as thick as the typical Belgian frite (and note Benita's still exists at Universal Theme Park thingie)

Very thin, but still tasty:
Bar Marmont, Father's Office (both with excellent burgers)

A little less thin, more like a traditional french frite:
Cafe Stella, Cafe Maurice (make sure you ask for fresh ones; sometimes they are not right from the fryer), Red

The ones at Ammo are a bit thicker as others have mentioned.

Some people like the french fries at The Standard. They are OK but remind me vaguely of a high quality Burger King french fry.

If you work downtown, the little Pinot takeout stand sells a decent french fry at lunch.

That's all I can think of for now.
