Your best bet is to take a taxi about 10 minutes north up the 5 to Thai Nakorn in Buena Park (just east of Knott's Berry Farm). It's located at 8674 Stanton Ave. just below Beach Blvd. Their phone is 714-952-4954. This place gets very crowded on weekends, however. I always used to take my New York co-workers there for a taste of real Thai food when attending the NAMM show (which is at the Anaheim convention center this weekend--look out, drunk musicians everywhere), and they loved it.

Also good is the Laotian restaurant Sang Dao at 1739 W. La Palma Ave. (714-956-8105) in Anaheim.

I like the Peruvian food at Nory's 933-1/2 Euclid (north of Ball Rd. in Anaheim), but the interior is a bit of a dump. Great food, though.

There are also a bunch of Korean restaurants a short taxi ride away on Garden Grove Blvd. north of Harbor Blvd. Can't recommend any specific places though since it's been a few years since I've eaten at any of them (and I can't remember the names). I just ate at Seolak San nearby on Beach Blvd. in Stanton a few nights ago--a good Korean BBQ restaurant that caters almost exclusively to Koreans. Half the menu was only in Korean, and there wasn't a single English/Roman alphabet word on the windows. Wasn't the best Korean BBQ I've ever had (though still quite good--menu service, not all you can eat; food cooked on slabs of slate at each table), and I'm going to try some other places in Garden Grove before I give a full report.
