Forget the fancy stuff. There's a big India Sweets & Spices off Lindley & Parthenia (Northridge). What could be better?
 
There are a few more Indian spots in this area that I've never been to, including an apparently indian/chinese(!) place (Express Delhi Chopsticks?)
