Also, Ramayani in Westwood (Westwood boulevard just north of Santa Monica, west side of street) is cute, friendly, casual. It purports to be Malaysian. My boyfriend (singaporean) says it's more or less authentic, and, except for teh very plain deep fried fish we had, found it to be excellent. All sorts of bizarre ice cream/ snow cone type desserts. Very reasonably priced.
