Every year, at the beginning of June, I go to Leona Valley to pick cherries. Take the Palmdale exit off Hwy 14 and head west about 10 miles. I'm partial to Hobart's orchard, but there are around 50 others. Don't go the first weekend they're open, as the cherries aren't ready. Across from Hobart's is Harry's sour pie cherries, which are excellent for cherry pie. If you time it right, you can get sweet and sour cherries in one trip.
