Subject:     Rehearsal Dinner near Palos Verdes

We will be getting married at La Venta Inn in May 2002. I would like recommendations for good restaurants to host the rehearsal dinner. I was thinking of steakhouses or traditional American-fare (fiance's dad is not an adventurous eater--does not like ethnic food!). Since this is the first time my mom will be meeting fiance's parents (yikes!), I would like a place that is nice, but not too stuffy because I want some background noise to fill in any gaps in conversation.
 
BTW, I live in Arlington, VA and have been away from CA for 12 years. I am not familiar with the South Bay area. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!
