Went there last night for the first time. The culotte steak was good (what is this cut and how else is it described?) and the shrimp cocktail was ok too (cocktail sauce had plenty of horseradish, which is a plus to me) but otherwise it was a disappointment. The spinach salad with bacon contained very little spinach and no bacon, the mushroom bordelaise was essentially cornstarch-thickened gravy, and my companion's very dry double beefeater martini with a twist was mostly ice and water and came with an olive. When we went to the bar directly to ask for a corrected martini-- with a twist-- we received an equally weak, vermouth-fortified martini with two olives!

On the other hand our waitress was very nice and seemed genuinely concerned that we enjoyed our meal, and some of the wines were very reasonably priced.

Is this a place where regulars are treated very differently from others? Have others had similar (or different) experiences at this or the Taylor's on 8th, and how do the two differ?
