Restaurants on Bolsa between Brookhurst and Magnolia
(the main strip):

French inspired stuff- Song Long, 9361 Bolsa. Also really good curry noodles.

Wide variety and open after midnite- Thanh My. The line gets pretty long the later it gets.

Noodles (not pho)- Hieu Tieu Thanh Xuan. Cultural Court mall where the Ranch 99 is. My all-time favorite rice noodles. Only the first few things on the menu are worth getting. Also there is a bunch of neat stuff to see walking around here and the big indoor mall across the street.

Banh Cuon- Tay Ho. There are a bunch around this street and are pretty easy to spot.

Stuff on rice- Thuan Kieu, 8940 Bolsa Ave. The best shrimp-paste and sugar cane sort of stuff. Theres also one on Brookhurst and a couple in the Monterey Park area.

24 Hours- Uyen Thi Quan. Easy to spot because so much neon. Not my favorite noodles but it is 24 hours.

Things to take home:

Sandwiches- Anywhere with a big sign that says Banh Mi. See also the place below or another post I'll make in a few minutes.

Fresh bread- Saigon Bakery, 14441 Brookhurst. 25c each... get a dozen and eat them quickly.

Beef jerky and dried fruits: Vua Kho Bo, right next to the abovementioned Thanh Xuan.

Desserts- Hien Khanh, 9784 Westminster. In an especially dingy strip mall, but I'm pretty sure its the best.

Random junk- Van's bakery or anywhere that says 'food to go' (a million of them).
