I'm guessing that there isn't an L.A. Weekly drop near you, or you figure that Gold was the only reason to read the paper (I'd agree with you, adding the listings).
 
The brief answer is: he never left. Go to their web site, which I have generously provided, and look for his ramblings on food most people wouldn't eat, in places too far away for most people to drive.
 
Well, that's better than The Times's food too expensive for anyone not on an expense account to order, served only on the West Side or downtown.
