Message: | To answer my own question, after a $200 apiece experience tonight: 1. the food is different, but surprisingly clumsy, relying on peppercorns, ponzu, and horseradish. 2. sitting in the sushi bar is a treat but not worth the hype 3. the wine list is to die for (Rocchioli Chardonnay, Caymus Cabernet, and other impossible to find wines, though at prices that are far from bargains) 4. the one impossible to duplicate dish is the thin sliced sea bass; the sauce is the trademark overbearing ponzu, though 5. save your money and avoid the lines and go to one of the less hyped and less cool places like Eugene Kang, Chinois on Main, or even Ducz in Pasadena and you'll be happier. |
