That's too funny! I'm not sure what the reason is for many of the sites I'm blocked from. The firewall here blocks all sorts of benign sites for no apparent reason. Oh well. That's what I get for working for a corporate monstrosity.

Why is the site you usually use blocked from work?

I'm reminded of the small town library -- I think it was named the Titworth Memorial Library, but I'm not sure -- whose terminals couldn't access its own website because of the overzealous filters installed on them.

Yeah, it's called the 7-Up tree ;p

Huh. Is there an uncola tree? :-)

Message 314 was left by Jae on 2003-05-13 13:08:14. Feedback: 0/0

There really is! The site I usually do my botanical research on is blocked from work, but here's the link from the Brooklyn Botanical Garden.

Cola

I don't think they actually use it in Coke or Pepsi products anymore. It's probably too expensive.

Message 313 was left by Lori on 2003-05-12 19:14:53. Feedback: 0/0

There's really such a thing as a cola tree?

You are SO my twin.

K-Mart. Definitely, definitely K-mart.

Ben & Jamie: Very funny! I don't think my story will involve Coke, or Coke products. I could put cola trees in my swamp. I saw one at the Botanical Gardens this weekend and pointed it out to my dad.

"Look!" I said. "There's a Coca-Cola tree."

"Only the cola part," my dad said. "They can't have the other half." Which shows that my dad is not as innocent as he pretends to be.

I think you definitely have to write this story. yeah, definitely, definitely, yeah

If you make Diet Coke an integral part of the story, remember to ask them for money for the product placement.

Jae, I love dreams like that! That is so cool, have fun with it. And umm, maybe depending on Diet Coke to save your life is more indicative of the real, and not the surreal. :) Work is the pits for everyone lately.

That is a totally cool opening. And I don't know if Diet Coke would save you, but if you drank enough it would probably preserve your remains.

I'm still at work. Soooo not happy with the world right now.

On the other hand, I think I dreamed an entire fat fantasy novel last night. The part I vividly remember is a beacon at the entrance to a forest path stating that only one man had ever survived the walk through unprotected, and the man next to me replied "I was young and stupid then." The forest was like the Everglades, and the path was made of wooden boards suspended over the swamp. Of course, myself and the people I was with had to continue in, and I began to die (only to be saved later on by drinking a lot of diet Coke, but that was where the dream took a severe left turn into the surreal).

Jae, Gary's on the phone gabbing with his mom and my email won't work.

If I don't get a chance to talk to you today, have fun at the concert.

I would take you, Terry. My tickets aren't until May 31. I also had to buy special ferry passes to the place they set up the tent. Should be fun!

I'm SO jealous of you people who get to see Cirque. In my dreams...

Message 301 was left by Samantha Ling on 2003-04-22 15:07:32. Feedback: 0/0

I'm a cirque ho. I'm on their mailing list, so the first instant their tickets go on sale, I'm all over it.

The middle is still pretty good. The really awful seats are the VERY far left and VERY far right. Half the stage is obscured when you sit there. Even if you're sitting in the back row middle, it's still better than closer and to the side.

When do you go? Let me know what you think of the show.

Message 300 was left by Jae on 2003-04-22 14:53:34. Feedback: 0/0

My seat is not that cool. By the time I got to it, all the front sections were sold out. So I'm in the middle.

And thanks Lori. ;-)

Jae: trust me, it's worth it. The twins (they do an aerial act), they are SO HOT. They fly right above you. Or actually they flew above me. I had third row tickets. But damn, they are SO HOT.

Hey. It's Cirque. Of course it's worth it. So are you, of course, but that goes without saying. :-)

Now I have Varekai tickets, and I'm hopelessly broke. I hope it's worth it!

I would love to come back Lori. It's still too cold to beach here.

I can't get to my e-mail right now, BTW, so if anyone needs me shout here.

Lori-That'd be cool. I'd like that.

Hey, Sam--depending on the weather, if you wanted to show up early for the Locus/Sam party event, we could wander around on the beach again for a while.

Bring your stained glass.

Oooh, beeeaaaacchh....

I still have those stones that we collected. They're in a big heap on my writing desk. I'm looking for something to put them in, but I don't have anything that is remotely interesting that would show them off. They're all kind of scattered!

You can come and be stressed at my house, Jae. :-)

NOT!

I'd haul your butt down to the beach again for a good long walk.

Well, I'm glad you liked our smut-talk, anyway. I'm sorry things have been so stressful! I have the opposite reaction to that much stress: I stop doing much of anything and then nothing gets done, adding to my stress. At least your coping mechanisms seem to be more effective! I hope the overtime and work drama decrease dramatically, and you get some breathing space. Take care of you,

-Linz
who will eat sweets in your honor. Tonight Frank is going to stay at our place, and we're going to make chocolate chip cookies! Yay!

This is just the kind of smut I like. Glaze, sticky buns, mmmm.... Seriously, this is making me hungry.

Thanks for checking in on me! I wish I had good news. I've been really, really busy and a lot stressed out. It's mostly work drama, but there's some family drama in there as well. And some barfing cat and dead fish drama. I've been working a lot of overtime, which means by the time I drag myself home I'm too tired to even think about writing, but then I'm too stressed out to sleep.

So I've had a lot of useless nervous energy so I've been taking it out on my apartment. I refinished my dining room chairs, bought a rug, hung a chandelier, repotted all the plants and rearranged the furniture. So at least I've accomplished something, and its even semi-creative. Tonight I'm going to repaint the little bookcases and hang shelves - assuming I'm not here until 9 PM again.
