If you are an author and wish to submit your material for publication, please understand the following:

• We are not, repeat not, a fiction market. Even though we say that plainly, right out where everybody can see, we still get an average of one e-mailed novel submission per week. Please please pretty pretty pleeeeze do not send fiction of any sort, for any reason!

• We do print articles, interviews, instruction, research, and anything else that we think might help our readers sell their fiction. If you are a professional writer and have something you think might fit the bill, we would love to hear from you.

• We pay at least three cents per word, upon acceptance.

Our Contract:

Author's Contract between [your name and address here] and Kent Brewster, dba Speculations (the Publisher) PMB 400 1111 West El Camino Real #109 Sunnyvale, CA 94087-1057 for the literary work entitled [your title here] 1. Author warrants that s/he has clear title to the work. 2. Author grants the Publisher the permanent nonexclusive rights to publish the Work as a part of the complete issue in which it originally appears. Publisher agrees to pay [number of dollars here] advance upon royalties for 1000 copies sold, and [same number of dollars here] advance on royalties for each additional 1000 copies sold. Publisher agrees to supply sales statistics at author's request. 3. Publisher agrees to revert all rights to Author if the Work is not published within eighteen months of the date this contract is signed. 4. Author agrees that the Work shall not be published anywhere else until 90 days after the first day of the month listed on the cover of the issue it is published in. 5. Publisher agrees to publish and list the copyright of the Work under the following byline: [your byline here] 6. Author agrees to furnish a brief (100-word) autobiography. 7. Author warrants and represents that s/he has the right to grant the rights listed herein; that the rights granted are free and clear, and that the Work will not violate any copyright or other right of third pary contrary to law. Author agrees to indemnify Publisher and any licensees thereof for any loss, damage, or expense (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising out of any claim inconsistent with any of the foregoing warranties or representations that is finally sustained in a court of law.
