Hatch unveils tactical eye protection system

A new system of eye protection for tactical officers that has replaceable parts, can be worn under helmets, and won’t interfere with shooting has been introduced by glove maker Hatch Corporation.

The Hatch B.O.S.S. 6000 (Ballistic Optical Safety System) is a hybrid system designed after Hatch engineers interviewed hundreds of SWAT team members. The consensus was that SWAT operators wanted neither goggles nor traditional sunglasses, but rather a hybrid design with replaceable components.

The B.O.S.S. 6000 is loaded with features. It is tested to ANSI standard Z87.1 and features the world’s first aircraft alloy frame. There is 100 percent peripheral vision and an impact resistant, anti-fog polycarbonate lens available in three colors. Also featured are On-the-Fly tear-offs and a self-centering strap. It will fit under all military and law enforcement helmets and weighs in at only 2.4 oz., about half that of traditional goggles. Optional integrated prescription lens inserts are also available.

The rigid alloy frame will not flex or deteriorate like traditional rubber or plastic goggles. This anti-flex feature is important because it delivers the only tactical eye protection with 100 percent pure stable optics. The sleek design of the B.O.S.S. 6000 does not interfere with riflescopes or other sights, as many other tactical goggles do.

Adhesive On-the-Fly tear-off lens covers, available in clear, yellow, and smoke allow the wearer to quickly remove debris or adjust for changing light conditions during critical tactical maneuvers.

All components of the B.O.S.S. 6000 (lens, strap, nosepiece and foam) are replaceable and can be reinstalled onto the life-lasting frame.

Hatch Corporation, founded in 1967, manufactures gloves and protective gear for law enforcement, military, corrections, and tactical officers. For a copy of Hatch’s product catalog, contact (800) 767-1343, info@hatch-corp.com, or www.hatch-corp.com.
