This IS a walkthrough and it does contain spoilers, please do not read this if you intend on playing this game on your own - this should only be used as a last resort (aside from just emailing me I guess)
Please note that this is an extremely condensed walkthrough, this does NOT tell the locations of all the sKs creatures (although I will consider writing a walkthrough for that in the future) or show all the hidden areas, this is simply every step that you must take in order to get THROUGH the game, please read responsibly:

Introduction

  • When the game loads, after displaying the introduction, you are presented with a menu, you can either read the readme files, or start the game, for the sake of getting through this walkthrough quickly I am going to suggest that you select "Run"
Chapter 1 - Innocence (This chapter is designed to be a prologue to the main story, and is mostly cinematic)

  • This chapter is mostly a cinematic, however, you will have to get lord ferith AWAY from the danger that he is currently in, you will get to a position where there is a latter, however it will be out of reach - a simple solution to this is to pick up a nearby rock and knock the ladder down, when the ladder has fallen, you can pick it up, and use it to continue up the rocky cliff...
  • Time falls...
Chapter 2 - The purity of Life, death, and all that lies inbetween... (This chapter is the longest chapter in the game, it consumes at least 70% of the entire game)

  • Narin's date with kara is not going well...after talking to kara about nothing, and talking to yourself about talking to kara about nothing for a good period of time you finish the date by paying the bill and getting out of that restaurant...procede to the hotel, check in, and get up to your room, and mope for a while - the fastest way to GET to your room is to take the door behind the hotel girl, walk through the end of the hall, walk through the end of the next hall, finally walk through the end of the next hall (dont ask), and open the 2nd door on the left to get into your room...
  • You will have to learn computer hacking in your main room - this is easy - just follow the onscreen instructions to pick up the skill (this walkthrough does NOT cover further computer hacking terminals! You will have to figure that out on your own if you plan to hack any further computers)
  • After this is done, go to bed...you're tired...
  • When you suddenly wake up, the FBI will call you and claim that you are a terrorist...(this was written pre 9/11/01 so dont think too much of this)...now is the time to get OUT of this room...run out of your room, go down the hall to the basement...once there - save the game (I know, finally!) and continue down the twisted maze below (this is the longest single walking part you will have to do in the game)
  • When you reach the dead end of the freezer compartment, you will call kara up on her cell phone...you will now have to maneuver kara through her burning house, evade the flames at all costs or you will have to fight them and this will take away from your valuable time that you need to escape your burning house...
  • Uh oh, Narin is now stuck in the freezer compartment, after waking up from the dream, you will find a secret staircase in the corner (the "dead end" press on the bottom right corner to locate the staircase)
  • You are now in the Kerain Forest, the main puzzle here is to get INSIDE the tree with the opening...in order to accomplish this you will need to place a ladder across the gap to get inside, there is a ladder that you can use for this task, however you will have to move the rock that is on top of it in order to pick it up, to do this, you will need the large branch, BUT in order to get that you will actually have to build a SMALL ladder out of twigs in order to get to that branch - this is the most complicated and longest puzzle in the game:
    • There are five twigs that you will have to collect in order to create the bridge, these are located throughout the map, they are not hard to find if you are looking
    • by the time you have found all the twigs you should have familiarised yourself wiht this map, you should know where the large branch is (it is the only one on the map of its size) build a small ladder to get up to it, and pick it up
    • Go back now to the ladder with the rock over it, use the branch to move the rock, and you can now pick up the ladder and USE it to get across the gap for the tree...phew!
  • Save the game...
  • When you find kara again you will have to take her to the town of Leganda, the town enterance is at the bottom of the screen near the centre of the map....once there you will notice that the town is in fear of some terrible monster...the monster FIGHT is easy enough, make sure to use kara's cracking ability to help defeat this monster quickly...
  • Kara is having one of her moments, but you really do love her, take this time to express it =)
  • ...After listening to agent orange, you will have to make it out of his area of the Kerain forest, when you get into the woods again find the path that will take you underground, how you got to this place is unexplained at this time, so dont be concerned with it quite yet...
  • ...Well, obviously those guys were little help, by now you should have the rope, use it to latch onto the lantern and get the hell out of that cave...once you get out of the tunnel go to the top-right of the map where you will find another enterance back underground...
  • Oh no, you're back where you started! Move to the centre of the star to activate the staircase, you will need some fire for this, (no this doesnt make any sense but its a game - shut up >=D ) so you can "take" some fire from the other room and use it here...be careful now...
  • When you get to the fire pits, it can be hard to figure out where to go...the exit is near the bottom, so make jumps that will take you SOUTH...and remember that if you cant make the jump without touching the fire, its probably NOT the right direction to be going...
  • Save your game before fighting the boss here, he can be tough...

  • Ahh, back in leganda...its about time, take a rest at the inn - its free of charge! =)
  • Alright, you're a man with a mission now! ...you just dont seem to have a developed plan...however, there IS a man with some plans for you...surprisingly enough he resides in leganda, and by now you should know who I am referring to, knock in the door and when he comes out to try to chase you around, get your skinny gothic ass in his house before he catches you! Once inside, read the document on his desk, this will tell you where you should be going next...
  • However for the sake of perpetuating this walkthrough, if you are not sure of where you should be going - once you get out of the town of leganda, head back up to the waterfall where kara was abducted...in the swamp there is a small collection of stumps, find your way down into the sewage passageway to get out of Kerain for good...
  • When you are moving through the sewer make sure you take the ladder from the wall, you can jump up to reach it, this will allow you to create a bridge across the gap...
  • This entire area is very straightforward, however at one point you will accidentally turn on the sewage draining system...and this is where it will become complicated...to open the escape you will have to turn on the lights in a certian order before the time runs out, this can be tough to do...there are two sets of six lights on both sides of this map, there is a diagram below displaying the order of the lights you must hit to pass...

  • The point of BEING in Der Sandor is to use their water passageway to get OUT of kerain like Agent Orange explained...go to the main HQ and volunteer to be on their game show...the game show is very easy as there are very few questions that will ever be asked, the final question is presented from the "Hacker Manifesto" - the correct answer is "because we're all alike"
  • This next part is simply you falling down a shaft...okay...you will have to jump over rocks and logs and such, there is no easy way around this...
  • When you finally arrive at the hidden island town of Te-Khatta, take a break, after all you've earned it - This I believe personally is where this game finally gets out of being "newbie-ish" and starts to improve...if you have made it this far without losing your sanity, I really congradulate you ^..^
  • This island has a sinister secret, finding mirahhan is easy and escaping is easier...when you get back to the ocean you can find the makeshift boat (that somehow becomes very LARGE ;-) in a little bit) that mirahhan built behind the large tree - just push it out onto the water...
  • The port-town of Mia-Lan is a small one, but sporting friendly people, one of the locals in the pub will give you a lift down to the airport the next town over, however - this quickly turns sour and you are left walking...ah so goes life...
  • What? The plane was hijacked - NOOOOOO...the only way to protect the plane is by using the sniper gun to shoot off terrorists (probably Israelis >=D ) one at a time, they keep coming so make sure that you gun them down before they get the generators back up and running!
  • The plane lands however it drops you off quite a distance away from Kerian where you need to be...your journey will ascend you up onto the peak of a mountian...this is not an easy task, however, mind your health, and slowly make your way up to the top...cassandra will be there to help you out...
  • Once you shut the generator down - everything goes wrong...how could this be? Well, its just a game so dont worry to much about it...Cassandra is unarmed in this battle so your ONLY hope is to quickly run and jump away from her at all costs, the lazers that her guards shoot at YOU can also hurt HER, so evade their attacks while leading your enemy into the fire...This can be the single toughest battle in the game if you are not quick...
  • Rescue narin from his daze and run out of there as fast as possible...when you arive back on the mountianside quickly go back to your plane and make your way over to Raeal City...
  • When you wake up you will find yourself alone alone again...however it should be noted that your psychotic hallucination knows his way around better than you do! Follow him to find Raeal City...
  • By night this place is an empty city, but soon you will find yourself in the middle of a very busy city of commerce! For the sake of getting through this walkthrough you can find Cassandra in the house on the left hand side of town...
  • When she tells you to find help regarding the wherabouts of ITM you will notice a man hiding under a tree that can help you out...take cassandra up to the next city over and prepare for the final battle up ahead...
  • ...but somehow in the interim you were captured and thrown into jail...not only is there a concern as of how to get OUT of the cell, but also now how to stop the cell from compacting in on you! This is a time to use your cell phone for the first real time in the game! You can use your cell phone to hack into the main system controlling this compactor...when you have hacked in, you will have to destroy the power to the cell by destroying each energy crystal while avoiding the viruses...this is not too difficult, but be on your toes about it!
  • You are now on your way to look for food, which at the time seemed easy...now however there is something much bigger than food on your mind...something that is going to consume the entire planet in a very...very dark force...
Chapter 3 - Erratic Commentary on the Origin of Life (This is a very short chapter that is mostly one long lecture about everything that is going on in the game up to this point...)

  • This is my favourite chapter in the game, I hope you enjoy it too =)
Chapter 4 - The playfulness regarding functionality in the Universe (This chapter involves almost constant battles and is the most difficult chapter in the game...)

  • The others went out for breakfast, you have the option to just sit around and wait for them, or you can go exploring...either way, there is no real danger here...
  • In order to get IN the ITM main HQ you will have to utilise a small cave near the outskirts of the area...there are no real puzzles here, just pace yourself and make it to the interior...
  • You will have to rely a lot on your quantum shifting device in the ITM building to SEE your hidden enemy - avoid doing battle with the aethers at all costs as they are very dangerous!
  • Floor #1 of the ITM building is so large and so complex that there is a map of it added to the BIOS menu of the game to show you where you need to be going to turn off the computers...I have personally found that if you draw a map that you will always have refrence to this is considerably easier to accomplish...save often here because this can be a very arduous task...
  • When you make it to the second floor of the ITM building you will soon find a sanctuary, while here talk to Agent Gray who will give you the company of a REAL cracker - Raymond, with him you will be able to bypass the security needed to enter the chain of terminals located on this upper floor...when you find and destroy the main terminal you will have to run back the way you came...
  • Your Quantum shifting devices will now have to run off of bio-energy due to the lack of system power which means that you will only be able to turn the shift on for a brief period of time before it turns itself off...save the game here...you are soon confronted with 2 different directions to go, one east, and one north, if you take the eastward path it will take you to the legendary Component X which significantly boosts all of your stats, the northward path will eventually lead to the way out (I cannot explain why but there is a staircase on this map that does not lead anywhere lol, ignore this, this staircase is not important) find your way to the elevator and go down to the basement floor to find the aetheric vortex and destroy it for good!
  • Much of this can become very confusing as it looks very much the same from one room to the next, however find the door near the bottom right of this floor to find your way to the vortex generator quickly
  • The teleporters in this stage look very similar to the Save Points in the game, after you get to the away from the barrage of teleporters be sure to save your game at the upcoming Save Point, dont be confused and think this is just another teleporter! ;-)
  • You will find a girl here trying to hack the computer that YOU were after! Well, now that she is out of the way you can get to work...crack the system and get out of there from the way you came...
  • Now that the power is down on this floor you can access one of the previously locked doors, this next one that you need to enter is located near the north western part of the floor...
  • Suddenly the tech-like rooms that we were used to seeing are being erriely replaced by a very lush looking landscape harbouring wild animals...
  • The scenes begin to get stranger and stranger as you descend into the depths into this twisted complex, keep guard and press onward into the abyss...
  • Before long you are confronted with the Aetheric Vortex Generator...
  • It seems again your mind is throwing you into another state of illusion! Confront yourself to make it out of here!
  • The charges are set! Take the door on the left to quickly get out of there and find kara before the entire place blows!
  • Now that you're back on the bottom floor again go back up to the top to open the final door that will take you to the basement level, this is where kara is residing...once there you will have to check every room until you find her, however this is easy as there are no enemies from here on in the game...
  • Once you find her room...
Chapter 5 - The fantastic End of the Rainbow (This chapter is just a cinematic, a very large...long...cinematic that I believe is the best in the game...)

Chapter 6 - Retrospect and Visions of the Shadow of Life (This chapter reveals some game secrets as well as the closing game cinematic...)

  • This game IS riddled with spelling mistakes - why? Well, because somehow between the time I finished this game and now my spelling improved 100 fold, future games will not have this problem but this one does...
